Premature Ejaculation
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is a common issue among men, characterized by ejaculating always or almost always before or within one minute of vaginal penetration. This can lead to discomfort, frustration, and even avoiding sexual intercourse. It may be related to physical problems, such as prostate inflammation, or psychological factors. Although it can be frustrating, it does not affect fertility as long as ejaculation occurs inside the vagina.
Standardized Treatments
Premature ejaculation can be managed in various ways. One option is the use of dapoxetine, an SSRI medication, or anesthetic creams or sprays that help delay ejaculation. Additionally, behavioral therapy or psychotherapy can be beneficial in better managing the situation. Each person can find the treatment that works best for them.
Experimental Treatments
Intraglandular injection of hyaluronic acid has been proposed in a few studies for resolving premature ejaculation. Overall, hyaluronic acid (HA) appears to be a well-tolerated compound with promising potential in the treatment of male sexual health issues. Although the use of HA injections in clinical practice by andrologists is increasing, further high-quality scientific research is needed to confirm its efficacy and safety.
To solidify these findings, it is essential to conduct high-quality randomized prospective studies, which are currently lacking. Although complications from HA injections are generally mild and rare, isolated cases of severe complications have been reported, which can affect patient satisfaction after treatment. To improve postoperative satisfaction, it is crucial to carefully select patients and ensure they understand the purpose and duration of the treatment.
