Testicular fixation
Testicular fixation is a surgical procedure aimed at correctly positioning the testicles in the scrotum. It is generally performed in cases of cryptorchidism and testicular hypermobility. In these situations, testicular fixation reduces the risk of complications such as infertility, testicular torsion, and testicular tumors.
The procedure is usually carried out under spinal or local anesthesia, depending on the preferences of the patient and the surgeon. Thanks to a minimally invasive scrotal access, it is possible to operate on both testicles and secure them to the inner surface of the scrotum with sutures. The stitches used for the skin are absorbable, meaning they will fall off spontaneously in about three weeks, leaving a practically invisible scar.
Testicular fixation is a straightforward and safe procedure, but it may be accompanied by some postoperative pain, which can be easily managed with pain relievers. The recovery is quick, and the patient can return to their normal activities within a few days, although it is advised to avoid physical strain for about a month.
